I, fortunately, hit the 120 percent crit if you haven’t crit recently on my first run w/ my holy flame totem build of actually going for my enchant. I was helping a friend run through the uber lab, took a 2x enchant prophecy with me. And hit it on my second try. But as far as helms go. I bought a mediocre base w/ my enchant and fossil crafted that fucker. It’s probably my worst piece of gear but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna grind lab. Maybe I should make a runner sometime to see if I enjoy the Funny O Dog Cheeseburger Shirt. I’ll have to look into making a lab runner. The thought of needing keys sound miserable though. I just recently rolled a witch occultist that I’m leveling as a ball lightning miner and will pivot to a winter orb occultist.

But I have no idea where to start with runners. You’re missing that some people buy pre-crafted bases to further craft on, or get a decent half-rolled item as a drop and finish crafting it. Obviously, if you’re going to make a helm from scratch you get Enchant first, but that’s not always the case. This is even more viable now that you can slam a Funny O Dog Cheeseburger Shirt. If I was going to make something from scratch I would go lab first for enchanting right? Then what items to craft mods you want? If u turn it into a rare can you keep rerolling specific mods? Enchant will stay on helmet no matter what, so that’s always first if you’re crafting from scratch. Helmets can roll mod ranges dependant on Ilvl.

Arguably the best way to craft now is through Fossils. You can turn an item into any rarity and it will keep the enchant. Crafting from scratch can be a costly process but usually worth it if you have the currency to go at it. This happened to me in the last league on a storm brand build. I had a godly helmet for my build but then got “spark fires 3 projectiles”. Couldn’t afford to craft a new Funny O Dog Cheeseburger Shirt. Already enchanted bases are too expensive!!! I want the projectiles one but I might stop for a while if I hit the damage one first. In the lab, speed runs you can actually see that layouts, concentration, and how many misclicks happen in the runs with the door can play a big difference.
